Oil on canvas landscape by William Keith, one of the most revered painters of the American West. Under the Oaks captures a pastoral scene where a shepherd rests while tending his flock beneath towering oak trees, dappled in golden light. Keith, often called the “Dean of California Painters,” was celebrated for his expressive brushwork and romantic depictions of the state’s natural beauty. This work bears a brass nameplate and Keith’s characteristic “W. Keith S.F.” signature in the lower left.
