A panoramic Western landscape by noted California painter Henry Raschen, this expansive scene captures two Indian figures and a packhorse navigating a rugged mountain trail. Raschen, among the most prominent painters of the early American West, is known for his respectful depictions of Native life and his highly detailed style, seen here in the dynamic rendering of figures, terrain, and natural light. Oil on canvas, signed lower right “H. Raschen.”
