Oil on canvas, signed lower right Meyer Straus. A richly detailed pastoral landscape depicting laborers harvesting hay in a rolling field beneath a luminous California sky. Straus, a German-born American painter who settled in San Francisco in the 1870s, is noted for his plein air style and association with early California landscape traditions. This work was exhibited in the 2016 Artists of the Bohemian Club exhibition at Christopher Queen Galleries. Dimensions: Canvas 30 x 18 in.; Frame 40 x 27 in.
