.22RF Short. 2.5” fluted four-barrel cluster. SN: 14921 . Blued barrels, silver-plated brass frame, foliate pattern Gutta Percha grips. Left side of frame marked in a two-line circle “C. SHARPS/PATENT 1859”with right side similarly marked “C. SHARPS/PHILADA. PA.” The classic Sharps pattern multi-barrel pepperbox with a spur trigger, rotating firing pin, sliding barrels and hammer interlock to prevent the barrels from being moved unless the hammer is in the half-cock position. The guns were produced from the early circa 1859-1874. The pistol is accompanied by its very scarce black pasteboard box with directions for use on the inside lid and a wooden rod for unloading the pistol. Condition

Very fine to excellent. Barrels with most of the bright blue intact, showing some thinning, minor fading and high edge wear. Frame withmuch of the deeply tarnished silver plating intact. Markings and engraving remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional action. Bores very good, mostly bright and lightly oxidized with good rifling. Grips fine with some light wear but free of any breaks, chips or damage. Box very good with normal moderate wear and scuffing on the exterior, as well as an impact dent inside the lower section in the lower left-hand corner. Interior with some light to moderate wear and scuffed loss to the cardboard.
