A Russian silver and cloisonné enamel condiment service comprising two covered pepper shakers, four open salt cellars, two matching salt spoons, and a fitted presentation case retailed by P. Macfarlane & Sons Ltd., 54 Gordon Street, Glasgow. The four salt cellars are marked with the Russian 84 silver standard, while the covered pepper shakers bear 925 marks and complementary cloisonné decoration. The pepper shakers and salt cellars carry different hallmarks and are not an exact matched pattern. XRF analysis confirmed the silver content, with the 925-marked pepper shakers testing below sterling and the 84-marked salt cellars testing above their marked standard.
Dimensions: Pepper shakers: 3.25 in. high. Salt cellars: 1.75 in. diameter. Case: 9.5 x 6.75 x 2.25 in. high.
Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $40 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).
Very good overall condition with light expected wear from use. Cloisonné enamels remain bright with minor scattered surface wear. Gilding to the salt interiors remains well preserved. The pepper shakers and salt cellars bear different hallmarks and are not a matched set, though they have long been housed together in the fitted presentation case.
