Series 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Note, Friedberg 2201-G, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (District G), serial number G00062775A. Printed from Plate #C1/12 and bearing the portrait of President William McKinley on the face with the distinctive green reverse. Encapsulated and certified Choice About New 58 by PCGS Currency. High-denomination Federal Reserve Notes were originally intended primarily for large financial transactions between banks and businesses and saw comparatively limited public circulation. Production of $500 notes ceased during the Second World War, and the denomination was officially discontinued in 1969, making surviving examples highly sought after by collectors of United States paper money. As United States currency, this lot is exempt from applicable California sales tax.
