Group of three South African Krugerrand one-ounce gold bullion coins comprising the dates 1975, 1979, and 1980. First introduced in 1967 by the South African Mint, the Krugerrand became the world’s first modern gold bullion coin intended for private ownership and remains one of the most widely traded bullion issues. Each coin is struck in 22-karat gold (.9167 fine) and contains one troy ounce of pure gold alloyed with copper for increased durability. The obverse features the portrait of Paul Kruger, former President of the South African Republic, while the reverse depicts the iconic springbok antelope designed by Coert Steynberg. The coins are individually housed in protective sleeves. As legal tender gold bullion coinage, this lot is exempt from applicable California sales tax.
