Original U.S. one-sheet teaser poster for Star Wars: Revenge of the Jedi, the working title for the third film in the original Star Wars trilogy, ultimately released in 1983 as Return of the Jedi. Featuring Drew Struzan’s dramatic composition of Darth Vader looming above the lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Vader.

The Revenge of the Jedi campaign was abandoned shortly before the film’s release after George Lucas determined that “revenge” was inconsistent with the philosophy of the Jedi, and the title was changed to Return of the Jedi. Posters bearing the earlier title had already been produced and distributed, making original examples an important artifact of the film’s production and marketing history.

This example is the desirable rolled, never-folded issue. Examined and authenticated, with characteristics consistent with original examples, including the correct approximately 27 x 41 in. dimensions; sharply defined blue 20th Century Fox logo with dark black surrounding field at lower right; and clearly rendered detail to Darth Vader’s chest piece. These details are useful in distinguishing period originals from later reproductions.

Good/Very Good. Never folded and retained rolled. Minor rubbing along the edges with two approximately 1/8 in. areas of wear at the lower left and lower right corners. Surface remains bright and glossy with strong original coloration. Scattered foxing to the upper center quadrant of the verso only; recto remains bright and presents well.
