Oil on canvas depicting an assemblage of exotic birds—most prominently a brilliantly colored red parrot—perched along a twisting branch against a softly modulated green atmospheric background, with additional birds enlivening the surrounding foliage. Signed lower right (“Monte”). Monte, born in Barcelona in 1918, trained at the Fine Arts Academy in Barcelona (1937–41) and at the Academia de Bellas Artes in Madrid (1954). His career included exhibitions in Toledo, Andorra, and Ravenna during the 1950s, and he later worked as a restorer for the Sevilla Museum before returning to Barcelona to maintain a studio and complete commissions.
