Gold Presentation Cane to S.W. Eccles, D&RGW Railway, Dated 1886 A 14k gold presentation cane inscribed to S.W. Eccles / Genl F & P Agent / D.&R.G.W. R’y / by patrons of the Company. The end cap is engraved with the date August 31st, 1886. The gold handle features deeply chased floral scrollwork and is mounted on a mahogany shaft with a steel ferrule. Eccles is believed to have been a General Freight & Passenger Agent for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railway during the height of railroad expansion into the American West. This elegant cane likely marked his retirement or commemoration of service in 1886.
