Carter, Portland, Oregon, the lithographed piece promotes H.W. Corbett & Co.’s coach line from Portland to Sacramento, connecting with interior mining towns via the rail line from Oroville. The text touts the speed, inland safety (“Travellers avoid risk of ocean travel”), and spectacular scenery along the route.
