Original 1866 advertising broadside for the Oregon Stage Line, titled Overland Mail Route to California. Through in Six Days to Sacramento! Printed in red, blue, and black by W.D. Carter, Portland, Oregon, the lithographed piece promotes H.W. Corbett & Co.’s coach line from Portland to Sacramento, connecting with interior mining towns via the rail line from Oroville. The text touts the speed, inland safety (“Travellers avoid risk of ocean travel”), and spectacular scenery along the route. Dimensions: Sight: 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 in.; Frame: 18 1/2 x 15 1/2 in.
