An oil on canvas by George Demont Otis (1879–1962), signed lower right. Executed in the artist’s characteristic California Impressionist style, the painting depicts a tranquil late-summer landscape with a stand of eucalyptus overlooking open pasture and gently rolling hills. The composition captures the distinctive rural character of Marin and Sonoma Counties, where golden grasslands, native oaks, and eucalyptus groves define much of the North Bay landscape. The reverse bears the handwritten title “End of Summer’s Day.”
Dimensions: Canvas: 28 x 36 in. Frame: 35 x 43 in.
Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $525 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).
The painting has been professionally relined and mounted on a modern John Annesley Company replacement stretcher. Examination under ultraviolet light revealed several areas of inpainting, primarily confined to the sky.
