This gelatin silver print was made posthumously by Weston’s son, Cole Weston, the sole authorized printer of his father’s negatives following Edward’s death in 1958. The verso is inscribed in pencil: “Negative – Edward Weston / Print – Cole Weston.” The subject is believed to be Charis Wilson (1914–2009), Weston’s muse, partner, and later wife, who modeled for many of his most iconic photographs of the 1930s.
