This photogravure is on Japanese Gampi Tissue. Japanese Gampi tissue was expensive, and Curtis was one of the few artists at the turn of the century to utilize Gampi tissue. It is estimated that only 10-15% of Curtis’s photogravures were printed on Japanese Gampi tissue.
With original Van Gelder overmat. Van Gelder overmat watermark is visible when held up to light and states “Van Gelder Zonen, Made in Holland”

Photogravure: Bottom left corner and top left corner each have a 1/2” tear where they separated from matting. Matting tape top edge. Van Gelder Overmat: Separated into two pieces. Foxing bottom edge. Abrasions from matting tape.
