An extensive Austro-Hungarian .800 silver flatware service, late nineteenth or early twentieth century, struck with the Diana Head (Dianakopf) assay mark and a separate “MT” maker’s mark. Housed in its original fitted walnut chest, the 243-piece service comprises twelve place settings together with a broad assortment of serving pieces, fish services, specialty utensils, salts, and accessories. The documented weighable silver totals 7,710.8 grams (247.9 troy ounces), exclusive of twenty-four hollow-handled knives with stainless steel blades.

Accompanied by a 1980 appraisal prepared by noted silver authority Pansy Lea Willburn, documenting the service as custom made and unusually complete. Its scale, original fitted chest, documented silver weight, and survival of numerous specialty forms distinguish it as a substantial example of formal Austro-Hungarian table silver.
