A scarce Sacramento advertising calendar issued for January 1906 by Ebner Bros. Co., Wholesale Wines and Liquors, Sacramento, California. Printed in color, the advertisement features gilt lettering and decorative medallions promoting Old Colonial Whiskey, including a reference to its annual sales. The original January 1906 calendar tab remains intact, preserving the piece’s intended function as both an advertising display and office calendar.
Founded in 1866, Ebner Bros. Co. was among Sacramento’s leading wholesale wine and liquor merchants, operating from 116–118 K Street in Old Sacramento until the advent of Prohibition. Advertising calendars such as this were produced in limited quantities for business customers and were typically discarded after use. Together with the accompanying Sacramento whiskey advertisements offered in this sale, this calendar documents the city’s flourishing pre-Prohibition liquor trade.
