Two baskets representing the basketry traditions of central and eastern California. Included are a Yokuts polychrome basket from California’s southern San Joaquin Valley, decorated with geometric designs in natural and dark fibers, and a Panamint polychrome bottleneck basket from the Death Valley region of eastern California, woven in the distinctive bottleneck form with alternating vertical and geometric polychrome decoration. Together, the lot presents two characteristic forms from neighboring but distinct California weaving traditions.

 

Dimensions: Yokuts: 9.75 x 5.75 in., high. Panamint bottleneck: 7 x 4.75 in., high.

 

Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $75 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).

Condition

Overall good condition with light, expected wear from age and use. Minor scattered wear consistent with age.
