Four baskets representing the basketry traditions of California and the Great Basin. Included are a Hupa basket from the Trinity River region of northwestern California; a Washoe basket from the Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley region of eastern California and western Nevada; a Karok basket from the middle Klamath River of northwestern California; and a twined seed jar with carrying loops, a traditional form used for the storage and transport of seeds and other provisions. Together the group illustrates a variety of forms and weaving traditions from the American West.
