The external hammer gun features a checkered walnut pistol grip and forend, 24-inch barrels with a matte rib, and lock plates engraved respectively with “W.F. & Co. Ex #328” (left) and “Ithaca Gun Co. Ithaca N.Y.” (right). The lock plates bear light decorative scroll engraving, and the original hard rubber buttplate is molded with the Ithaca Gun Company seal. This shotgun matches the configuration and serial number range of several documented deliveries from Ithaca to Wells Fargo & Co. between 1912 and 1915, which were issued to express guards and station agents during the waning years of the company’s armed transport era.
