Swiss quarter hour repeater automation pocket watch housed in an unmarked yellow gold case, confirmed by XRF analysis as 18K gold. The automaton depicts two figures striking suspended bells in conjunction with the quarter-hour repeating mechanism, an ingenious complication combining animated mechanical figures with the audible striking of the hours and quarter hours on demand. An engraved gilt-metal inner cover protects the finely finished Swiss movement, reflecting the craftsmanship associated with high-grade Swiss complicated watches of the late nineteenth century.
