An impressive figural cigar cutter fashioned from a natural boar tusk with a sterling silver eagle’s head mount. The finely detailed silver casting depicts a fierce American eagle with textured plumage, open beak, and inset glass eyes, the cutting mechanism concealed in the upper beak. The tusk curves elegantly, complementing the bold sculptural form of the mount. Such luxury figural cigar accessories were fashionable symbols of status and masculinity in the late 19th century, often kept in gentlemen’s clubs or private smoking rooms.
