A Rolex “Red Submariner” stainless steel automatic wristwatch, reference 1680, serial number 2.36X,XXX, featuring the iconic black dial with the model designation “Submariner” printed in red above the depth rating. Introduced in the late 1960s, the reference 1680 was the first Submariner fitted with a date complication and remains one of the most recognizable vintage Rolex sports watches. Produced only during the early years of the reference, the distinctive single line of red printing has made the “Red Submariner” a favorite among collectors. This example is fitted with a newer replacement Rolex bracelet.
