A Rolex GMT-Master stainless steel automatic wristwatch, reference 6542, serial number 426,XXX, featuring a black dial with gilt printing, red date display, and a blue and red Bakelite-style 24-hour bezel insert. Introduced in 1954 in collaboration with Pan American Airways for international airline pilots, the reference 6542 was the inaugural GMT-Master and established one of Rolex’s most celebrated professional watch lines. Early examples are distinguished by their no-crown-guard case and rotating 24-hour bezel, allowing the wearer to track a second time zone. Today, the reference remains one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex sports watches and an important milestone in the history of modern tool watches.
