Each finely decorated porcelain plate bears the gilt crowned cipher “N” of Emperor Napoleon III, within richly gilt cobalt blue borders produced by the Manufacture Impériale de Sèvres. One plate is from the Service des Ministères, featuring winged victories, laurel sprays, and imperial emblems; the other from the Service Ordinaire de l’Empereur, with alternating crowns, lyres, and Napoleonic “N” medallions within a diamond-patterned ground. Both bear the underglaze red mark “M. Imple de Sèvres”, denoting production during the Second Empire. Examples from these services were supplied to the Palais des Tuileries and other Imperial residences of Napoleon III.
