Wind-powered kinetic sculpture by American artist Jeff Kahn (b. 1954), featuring a precision-machined brushed aluminum architectural base supporting multiple tiers of finely balanced stainless-steel arms terminating in mahogany vanes. Responding to the slightest movement of air, the sculpture creates continuously changing patterns of graceful motion through careful engineering and balance. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kahn began his career as a jeweler before studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1976 to 1980, where he expanded his practice into furniture design and experimental sculpture. His kinetic works, fabricated in aluminum, stainless steel, and fine hardwoods, are represented in museum, corporate, and private collections and are recognized for their elegant integration of engineering, movement, and minimalist design.
