A finely engraved 10k yellow gold handle crowns this California walking stick, featuring intricate panels of scrollwork and diamond lozenges with foliate flourishes in the post–Civil War engraving style. A polished cabochon of natural gold quartz is set into the end cap, the milky white matrix crisscrossed by dramatic gold veining typical of quartz specimens from the Sierra Nevada region. Mounted on a tapered ebony shaft terminating in a fitted steel ferrule.
