Oil on canvas. The Old Mill depicts a rustic watermill set along a rocky stream beneath early autumn foliage, while Cloister Gateway presents a serene architectural view of a stone lychgate and adjoining Gothic structures framed by dense woodland. Both works exhibit Deakin’s characteristic attention to atmosphere, texture, and architectural detail. Each is signed lower left and housed in period frames; one crafted of redwood, a species indigenous to a narrow stretch of the Pacific Coast. Dimensions: Both 18 x 12 in.; framed 24 3/4 x 18 3/4 in. Condition

Both appear in original untouched estate condition. Canvas is laid down, likely at the time of framing. Neither painting shows any indication of restoration or conservation under ultraviolet light. The Old Mill with a small area of paint loss at mid-left; both frames with expected age wear.
