A colorful and well-preserved example of Western prison art, likely made at Arizona’s Florence State Prison. The headstall is hitched in dyed horsehair—white, black, bright pink, and grey-green—with geometric patterns and matching tassels, affixed to a classic Western curb bit. Such examples were crafted by inmates with great patience and skill, often for trade or sale.
