An oil on canvas by David Johnson (American, 1827–1908), initialed and dated “DJ 74” lower left and titled Ramapo, New York, 1874. The composition depicts a wooded landscape with exposed rock ledges and varied native trees, reflecting Johnson’s careful observation of the New York countryside. Painted in 1874, the work dates to the artist’s mature period, when he was among the leading landscape painters associated with the Hudson River School.

The painting retains labels from Berry-Hill Galleries, New York, long recognized as a leading dealer in nineteenth-century American paintings, and is presented in a custom period-style frame by Eli Wilner & Company.

Dimensions: Canvas 14.5 x 12.5 in.; framed 20 x 18 in.

Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx for $65 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).
