A finely embroidered Chinese imperial court apron panel featuring a powerful five-clawed dragon executed in raised gold-thread embroidery amid scrolling clouds, waves, and auspicious emblems. The central dragon emerges above a dramatic lishui border of stylized cresting waves and sacred mountain forms, a design element closely associated with formal court costume and rank attire. The field is populated with numerous traditional symbols including Buddhist treasures, floral motifs, and emblems associated with prosperity, longevity, and good fortune. The upper register displays a pair of confronting dragons pursuing a flaming pearl against a dark ground.

Executed in silk and metallic thread, the embroidery demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship throughout. The dragons are worked in heavily padded gold couching, producing a pronounced three-dimensional effect, while the surrounding motifs exhibit intricate shading and finely articulated stitchwork. The panel retains its original blue waistband and silk lining and displays the quality construction associated with formal Chinese court textiles. The rich palette of gold, blue, black, and coral-red silk is characteristic of high-status Chinese court embroidery.

Dimensions: 37.5 x 41 in.
