Bronze with warm brown patina on a polished black granite base, signed Bufano and numbered 15/24 along the base edge. A charming modernist bronze snail by Beniamino Bufano (1898–1970), reflecting the artist’s hallmark stylized simplicity and symbolic approach to nature. Bufano, a prominent Bay Area modernist, is best known for his monumental public sculptures symbolizing peace and harmony, many of which remain San Francisco landmarks.
