The signature remains legible despite expected age-related fading and is preserved on a well-used period baseball displaying an attractive patina. According to the consignor, the baseball was acquired by the owner’s great-aunt while serving as a nurse at a New York City hospital during Babe Ruth’s hospitalization. She later presented the signed baseball to the consignor’s grandfather, and it has remained in the family ever since. Recently submitted for third-party authentication through Witherell, the baseball is now accompanied by its PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity, offering both compelling family provenance and independent authentication.
