An original color lithograph advertising Old Kirk Whiskey, printed in 1908 by Schmidt Lithograph Co., San Francisco, for A.P. Hotaling & Co. Produced to commemorate the Great White Fleet’s celebrated visit to San Francisco that year, the composition depicts a panoramic view of San Francisco Bay crowded with identifiable battleships beneath the slogan, “The Best Navy is under the Stars and Stripes.” An inset features the battleship USS California, while a prominent Old Kirk Whiskey billboard overlooks the bay from Alcatraz Island, blending patriotic imagery with regional commercial advertising.
