Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left: A.D. Cooper, 1890, San Jose, Cal. A romantic nocturnal composition depicting two winged putti seated in a moonlit clearing, their delicate forms softly illuminated against the shadowy backdrop of trees. Executed during Cooper’s productive period in San Jose, the work reflects his characteristic blend of sentiment and atmosphere. Presented in a period gilt frame.
