A whimsical oil on canvas by Western painter Astley David Middleton Cooper, signed and dated lower left A.D.M. Cooper 1915. Rendered in his later romantic style, this celestial composition features a procession of cherubs flying through a sunlit sky, drawing a golden chariot bearing a nude allegorical figure of Love. Delicate pastel streamers, torchlight, and fluttering wings heighten the theatricality of the scene. Cooper, best known for his portrayals of Indigenous people and frontier life, also created fantastical works such as this one.
