United States 2006-W American Gold Buffalo $50 bullion coin, certified NGC MS69 First Strikes. Introduced in 2006, the American Gold Buffalo was the first United States Mint bullion coin struck in .9999 fine (24-karat) gold, marking a significant milestone in modern American coinage. James Earle Fraser’s celebrated 1913 Buffalo Nickel design is faithfully reproduced, featuring a Native American portrait on the obverse and an American bison on the reverse. The “First Strikes” designation recognizes coins received by NGC within the initial release period from the U.S. Mint, adding collector appeal beyond the coin’s intrinsic gold value. Containing one troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, the American Gold Buffalo has become one of the premier modern bullion issues worldwide. As United States legal tender gold bullion coinage, this lot is exempt from applicable California sales tax.
