A beautiful derringer pistol manufactured by Derringer of Philadelphia for A.J. Taylor of San Francisco. This is a smaller sized derringer in .41 caliber, with German silver mounts, and clearly marked both Derringer, Philadelphia on the lock, and “MANd. FOR A.J. TAYLOR & Co. SAN FRANCo CAL” on the barrel. The metal is in the white. The stock is finely checkered on the wrist and back of the grip. The German silver mounts are handsomely engraved, and German silver pegs hold the steel butt cap. This handsome little gun was part of the collection of Lawrence P. Shelton, author of California Gunsmiths, 1846-1900, and is discussed in the text of that book. The action is tight and crisp. Dimensions: 5.5 inches long overall. The barrel is 2 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition

Very good plus condition overall. The barrel has no finish left, but has a nice patina. The stock is excellent, as are the mounts.
