A Rolex Explorer II stainless steel automatic wristwatch, reference 1655, serial number 3.7XX,XXX, featuring a black dial with fixed 24-hour bezel, distinctive orange 24-hour hand, and date aperture with Cyclops magnifier. Introduced in 1971, the Explorer II was designed for cave explorers, geologists, and adventurers working in environments where distinguishing day from night was difficult. The bold orange hand completes one rotation every 24 hours against the engraved bezel, allowing the wearer to differentiate AM and PM. The reference 1655 is among Rolex’s most recognizable vintage tool watches and remains highly sought after for its distinctive design, historical significance, and enduring appeal among collectors.
