Tall bottle-form art pottery vase by the Owens Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio, featuring a finely hand-painted portrait of the Apache leader Geronimo in feathered headdress, titled “Geronimo / Apache” in gilt. Finished in Owens’ signature “Utopian” high-gloss brown glaze, the detailed portrait stands out in rich naturalistic tones. Base impressed with Owens mark and shape number 1032. An excellent example of early 20th-century American art pottery portraiture.
