U.S.A.” Lower left side of frame marked “CALIBRE 44 M.H. & Co”, with the first part of the mark a little weak. Serial number 9825 on left of grip frame under grip. Matching mating number 9825 on butt, on rear of barrel web, on rear face of cylinder and scratched inside right grip. Factory lanyard ring in butt. A lovely example of a late production Merwin, Hulbert & Company Frontier Revolver with the double action mechanism, topstrap and partially fluted six-chambered cylinder. Revolver retains much of the factory nickel finish with some areas of thinning and minor flaked wear. Metal shows some freckled patches of minor oxidation and discoloration as well as some freckles of minor surface roughness. Hammer and triggerguard with some dull and faded traces of mottled case colors. Markings mostly clear and legible, with the first part of the frame marking a little weak. Mechanically functional action with strong “suction”. Bore about very good, mostly bright with evenly distributed light pitting, moderate oxidation and good rifling. Grips fairly crisp with some lightly scattered handling marks and some minor wear to the checkering.
