A rare printed business card from John Wesley Hardin (1853–1895), legendary outlaw turned attorney. Printed in black ink on cream card stock, the card reads: JOHN W. HARDIN Esq. / Attorney at Law / Office: / 200½ El Paso / Wells Fargo Bldg. / Practice in All Courts The verso features a period-style marbled paper design. Hardin opened his law practice in El Paso after receiving a pardon and studying law. He was famously gunned down in the Acme Saloon just blocks away from his Wells Fargo Building office less than a year later. Note: John Wesley Hardin (1853–1895) is remembered as one of the most lethal figures of the American West, reputed to have killed over 20 men. After serving 17 years in prison, he reemerged in El Paso as a licensed attorney, practicing law briefly before his assassination at the age of 42. His transition from outlaw to lawyer remains one of the most curious footnotes in Western history. This business card offers a rare tangible link to that final chapter of his life.
