Extremely rare and excellent World War II Japanese bayonet for the Type 100 Sub-machine Gun and Arisaka Paratrooper Rifle, manufactured in 1941 and 1942 by the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, under the supervision of Nagoya Arsenal. These were manufactured in very limited numbers for the Paratroops and for the Teishin Shudan, the Japanese "Rangers." It has its original all steel sheath, with its leather hanger and safety strap. The bayonet has the distinctive markings as only found on this bayonet. The factory marks are on the tang between the grips rather than the blade. The sheath has the leather hanger sewn onto a bracket, rather than the more typical hanger seen on the more common variant. The serial number is on the pommel: 3098. The wooden grips have a marking painted in black on one side. The blade is unmarked, as it should be, with the fuller beginning 1/8 of an inch from the guard, and vanishing 1 3/4 inches from the point. This is an absolutely original example of the scarcer variant of the rarest of Japanese bayonets, in remarkable condition. Only about 20 of these are known to exist in the world. Size: the bayonet itself is 9 7/8 inches long with a 5 1/2 inch blade. The bayonet in the sheath is 10 1/8 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Condition

Overall excellent condition. The bayonet itself is excellent plus. The sheath is excellent, with a shallow dent on the reverse. The grips are excellent, with Japanese characters painted on them in black. The leather hanger is dry but solid. The safety strap has broken, but both pieces of the snap itself are present. All markings are deep and clear. The blue or black finish is about 100% present.

Shipping is only in continental U.S. and information regarding shipping price is provided within the description of each lot. For international and larger items that we cannot ship in house, please take a look at our shipping contacts.
