Two baskets representing the basketry traditions of the Havasupai and Yavapai peoples of present-day Arizona. The Havasupai coiled basket bowl features stylized eagle motifs, a design associated with the tribe’s accomplished basketry tradition centered in the Grand Canyon region. The accompanying Yavapai coiled basket tray comes from the mountains and desert valleys of central and western Arizona, where basketry served an important role in gathering, food preparation, and daily life. Both are woven of natural and dyed plant fibers and illustrate the distinctive artistic traditions of neighboring Southwestern tribes.

Dimensions: Havasupai: 8 x 8 x 4.25 in., high. Yavapai: 12.25 x 12.25 x 2.75 in., high.
