An Arts & Crafts-era five-piece sterling silver coffee and tea service retailed by R.W. Edwards of Oakland, California. The set includes a tall coffee pot, teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, and waste bowl, all featuring applied strapwork handles, stepped footrings, and simple geometric forms. The largest piece measures 8 ½ inches high. Marked underside: R.W. Edwards / Sterling. The form, strapwork details, and hammer finish suggest the set may have been manufactured by Shreve & Co. of San Francisco in their Fourteenth Century pattern and retailed by Edwards. That pattern, introduced circa 1909–1912, is among Shreve’s most iconic Arts & Crafts designs, notable for its medieval revival motifs and hand-wrought appearance. R.W. Edwards (1830–1898) was a prominent Bay Area jeweler who founded his firm in Oakland in 1879. The business continued for several generations and maintained a reputation for high-quality silver and gold work, often reflecting the stylistic influence of Shreve & Co.
