Fender Precision Bass electric bass guitar, manufactured in 1965, retaining its original three-tone sunburst finish, tortoiseshell-style pickguard, rosewood fingerboard with clay dot position markers, and chrome hardware. The neck plate is stamped with serial number L95577, placing production within Fender’s desirable transitional “L-Series” period immediately preceding the CBS acquisition. The instrument is fitted with its original split-coil Precision Bass pickup and includes its period black Fender hardshell case with orange plush interior. Introduced in 1951, the Precision Bass revolutionized modern music as the world’s first commercially successful electric bass and remains one of the most influential instrument designs of the twentieth century.
