An original 1902 advertising calendar for Buffalo Brewing Co., Sacramento, California, featuring the New Brew image. The portrait is identified within the image as “From Photo. Copyright by Schall, 1900,” and is surrounded by an elaborate gilt Art Nouveau border incorporating the twelve months of 1902 printed directly into the lithograph. Issued as a New Year’s greeting for 1902, the calendar represents one of Buffalo Brewing’s earliest and most ambitious advertising pieces, combining decorative commercial art with a year-long promotional display.

Dimensions: Image 22 x 16.75 in.; framed 31 x 25.5 in.

Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $140 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).

Condition

Not examined out of frame. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals no indication of restoration. Minor handling creases are visible, including several light horizontal creases within the blue background at left of the portrait and a faint vertical crease extending through the lower center of the image. Minor edge wear includes a few small creases and tiny losses along the left margin, with additional light edge wear at the lower right border. The colors remain vibrant with excellent overall presentation.
