18K yellow gold compact case with an allover cross-hatched engine-turned pattern, retaining its original mirror and powder compartment. The interior is stamped “Shreve 18K Italy”, indicating manufacture for the distinguished San Francisco jeweler Shreve & Co., long known for importing fine Italian and Swiss goldwork.
